On the official Microsoft website, the company has announced that it will increase the prices of its online services by about 11% on 01.04.2023. This change affects the entire portfolio of Microsoft products such as Microsoft 365, Office 365 and Dynamics 365.
Background and objective of the planned price increase by Microsoft
The aim of the planned price increase is to standardise pricing in all regions, to compensate for local currency fluctuations and to take into account the exchange rate of the respective local currency against the US dollar.

From which period and which subscriptions are affected?
Microsoft grants price protection for online services for a period of 12 months. This means that 12 months after the booking date, the current price at Microsoft is checked, and this is then applied for the next 12 months.
For example, the price of a Microsoft Online Service booked on 10.02.23 will only be adjusted from 10.02.24 onwards.
Future price adjustments
Microsoft will review local currency pricing twice a year in the future, taking into account currency fluctuations against the US dollar. From the company’s point of view, this should ensure more transparency and predictability and lead to a pricing model that is customary in the industry.
What does this mean for you as a Workplace customer?
